  • PARK SLOPE _ Sunday, March 19, 2023 beginning at 12 noon, the Brooklyn Saint Patrick’s Parade kicks off at Prospect Park West and 15th St [assembly stretches to 9th St]. The parade marches to 7th Ave & Garfield Place, back to Prospect Park West & 15th Street where there's a celebration from 2 - 5 pm in Bartel-Pritchard Square at 14th Street in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn. There's usually a St Patrick's Day Parade mass before the parade [9 am?] at Holy Name of Jesus Church at 245 Prospect Park West. St. Patrick's Day parades in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn NYC.
  • BAY RIDGE _ Sunday, March 26, 2023 assembly begins at 12.30 pm and the Bay Ridge Brooklyn Saint Patrick’s Parade kicks off at 1 pm on 3rd Avenue at Marine Avenue and marches south to 67th Street in Bayridge.
    • Generally there's a pre-parade fundraiser. For example on Saturday, March 7th, 2020 there's a St Pat's Day Parade Dinner Dance beginning at 7 pm at the El Caribe at 5945 Strickland Avenue near 56th Drive in the Mill Basin neighobrhood of Brooklyn.   • CONEY ISLAND _ Saturday, April 1, 2023 - Luna Park [amusement park] opens in Coney Island. The amusement park has a large variety of rides, and is located along the boardwalk where there are a number of fast food stands and other vendors. Street fairs and fun in Coney Island Brooklyn.
  • BAY RIDGE _ Friday, April 14, 2023 begins at 10.30 am with the decoration of the epitaphios, followed by the unnailing service at 2.30 pm, and at 7 pm the Lamentation and carrying of the epitaphios around the neighborhood of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church at 8401 Ridge Blvd in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.   • PROSPECT HEIGHTS _ Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 10.30 am - 5.30 pm there's a Brooklyn Pop Up Market at the Brooklyn Museum. at 200 Eastern Parkway in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. The market is described as follows, " ... one-of-a-kind, handmade items from local artisans. About 50 sustainable artists, craftspeople, designers and local businesses offering handmade goods including jewelry, apparrel, tableware, skincare and artisanal goods.   • Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 11 am - 6 pm. Church Avenue Street Fair & Festival. Along Church Avenue from Coney Island Avenue to Argyle Road in Flatbush. There will be performances, food & a kids carnival. Brooklyn street fairs in Flatbush. Organized by the Church Avenue BID / Meteor in the Flatbush / Kensington neighborhoods.
  • NYC ALL 5 BOROS - Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 5, 6 & 7, 2023 - Janes Walk - Various art, culture, history and architectural tours throughout all five boros of NYC. Organized by the Municipal Art Society. Not a street fair so much as a streets tour. See https://www.mas.org/events/ for details.
  • NYC ALL 5 BOROS - Sunday, May 7, 2023 first wave beginning at 7.30 am & officially over at 6 pm - 5 Boro Bike Ride. It starts between Canal Street and the Battery in Manhattan, depending on the cyclist wave folks are in. And it ends at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island.   • WILLIAMSBURG _ Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 11 am - 6 pm. Graham Avenue Fiesta Brooklyn. Along Graham Avenue from Broadway to Boerum in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. Williamsburg street fairs / street festivals in Brooklyn.
  • FORT GREENE _ Saturday through Sunday, May 13 - June 11, 2023 - Dance Africa Festival at BAM - At 30 Lafayette Avenue at Ashland Place - in the Peter Jay Sharp Building and Howard Gilman Opera House in the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn. It's a performance festival featuring African culture. Tickets start at $35 for adults and $22 for kids. For details see www.bam.org. The parade then turns right onto 75th Street [aka Bay Ridge Parkway], left onto 5th Avenue, to 67th Street and then along the Park - ending between 6th and 7th Avenues where the reviewing stand is.   • BAY RIDGE _ Monday, May 29, 2023 at 11 am - The 155th Brooklyn / Bay Ridge Memorial Day Parade steps off on 3rd Avenue and 78th Street in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. The parade proceeds down to Marine Avenue, up to 4th Avenue, then over to John Paul Jones Park for their memorial service which includes bag pipes, flag raising and wreath laying by Veteran Service Organizations.   • CONEY ISLAND _ Tuesday, July 4, 2023 from 11 am - 1 pm - Nathan's Hotdog Eating Contest - At the corner of Stillwell and Surf. Contestants show many hotdogs they can eat in ten minutes. In 2021 - For the men, Joey Chestnut ate 76 hotdogs in ten minutes, and for the women, Michelle Lesco ate just shy of 31 hot dogs in ten minutes.

  • One of the biggest events of the Labor Day Weekend in Brooklyn is the West Indian American Day Parade and Carnival. While there are events related to the parade going on all weekend, the parade begins at 11 am on Monday September 4th starting near the Children's Zoo in Prospect Park which is just south of the Grand Army Plaza near the Brooklyn Museum. The parade then marches south through Prospect Park along Flatbush Avenue. At the Flatbush exit from the Park, the parade turns onto Empire Blvd and heads east to Nostrand, and then turns south ending at Midwood. Almost every site I saw seemed to get this wrong except the NYPD and the Organizers' site. The event runs from 10 am - 6 pm and you'll also find food stalls and shopping along along Eastern Parkway in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.

  • * Downtown Brooklyn _ Friday & Saturday , September 30 - October 1 2022 from 4pm - 8 pm and 11 am - 8 pm respectively - Downtown Brooklyn Arts Festival. In the Plaza at 300 Ashland Place at the corner of Lafayette and Flatbush. This event will feature live music, dance, talks and theater.   • * Boerum Hill _ Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 12 noon - 6 pm - the Atlantic Antic. Along Atlantic Avenue from 4th Avenue [near Flatbush Avenue] to the East River in Boerum Hill. This Brooklyn Street Fair is billed as the largest and oldest street festival in Brooklyn and has ethnic food, live entertainment and shopping. In the past they had approximately 500 food, drink and shopping vendors along with 11 stages of live entertainment. For details see - https://www.atlanticave.org/
    • SEE UPDATE ABOVE _ Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 12 noon - 6 pm. 46th Annual Atlantic Antic Festival / Boerum Place North. Along Atlantic Avenue between 4th Avenue and the waterfront [historically it also stretched along Hicks Street and Boerum Place between Atlantic Avenue and State Street]. Approximately 500 food, drink and shopping vendors along with 11 stages of live entertainment. Brooklyn street fairs in Boerum Hill. It's billed as the oldest and largest street festival in Brooklyn.
  • * Williamsburg / Greenpoint / Bushwick _ Friday, September 30 - Sunday October 9, 2022 on the weekends [including Thursdays] only from 5 - 10 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, two seatings on Saturday from 12 noon - 4.45 pm and from 5.15 - 10 pm; and on Sunday from 12 noon - 8 pm - Zum Schneider Fest. This is a traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest which heretofore had been held in Manhattan along the East River at 23rd Street.   • * Bensonhurst _ Saturday, October 8, 2022 parade begins at 12 pm - Annual Columbus Day Parade. Begins at 61st Street and 18th Avenue [aka Cristoforo Columbo Blvd] down to 86th Street following a 10.15 am Mass at St. Athanasius Church at 2154 61st Street in Bensonhurst / Mapleton. The parade ends at 18th Avenue / 86th Street / Benson Avenue where a street fair / festival follows the parade and runs until 6 pm along Benson Avenue between 18th Avenue and 19th Street.   • * Crown Heights _ Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 10.30 am - 7 pm. Panamanian Pre-Independence Day Parade & Festival. Begins at Bergen Street, heading down Franklin Avenue. Turns west at President Street and heads north along Classon Avenue ending at Eastern Parkway by the Brooklyn Museum.   • * Williamsburg _ Monday, October 10, 2022 from 10 am - 6 pm. Williamsburg BK Fair. Along Bedford Avenue from 7th Street to Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg Brooklyn NYC.
  • * Bay Ridge _ Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 6.30 - 9.30 pm - Bay Ridge Catholic Oktoberfest. At Meletia Hall at St Anselm School at 365 83rd Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The event includes light fare, beer, music and raffles. Tickets are $25 adults / $10 kids.

  • * Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 2 am - Daylight Savings Time. This may be the last year where we will 'fall back' by moving our clocks back one hour starting at 2 am Sunday or before going to bed Saturday night.
  • * Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 8 am - 5 pm - The NYC Marathon runners begin congregating at Fort Wadsworth at the foot of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge on Staten Island beginning at 7 am. The Professional Wheelchairs take off at 8 am, the Handcyclists at 8.22 am, the Professional Women at 8.40 am, and the Professional Men at 9.05 am, with the last wave at 11.40 am. Staten Island is the starting poinit, while Brooklyn is the first leg, the Queens segment of the course is around the midpoint before heading into Manhattan, then north to the Bronx over the Willis Avenue Bridge, where they do a U turn by heading west over the Madison Avenue Bridge before turning south into Manhattan and Central Park. Use the link to the front page below to view a map of the Marathon course for 2022.
    • So you can do some math to figure out when to greet them in your borough. The fastest men complete the race in a bit more than two hours, while the average is 4.40 [hours.minutes]. The midpoint is in Queens. The biggest wave of runners travel through Queens around 11 am, so you can figure out the rest. The weather is expected to be pleasant. Enjoy.
