AUGUST is the hot summer month, when folks go to the beaches and hang out in the parks, and watch the Friday night summer fireworks at Coney Island.
There is the celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop, the Feast of Santa Rosalia in Bensonhurst, the Pakistani Parade and festival in Kensington / Midwood; as well as summer concerts, summer theater and outdoor movies in the parks.
The summer is well underway with swimming at the public beaches and public park pools, as well as food & music festivals, kyaking and vacations.

This Brooklyn Neighborhood Expresses itself via the Arts
Location. The Bushwick Collective is located at 427 Troutman Street at St Nicholas Ave [7 Scott Avenue for street fair] in Bushwick. But it also encompasses the surrounding area which you'll see when you get there.
Description. Someone on Yelp described it as follows, "It's just a neighborhood in Brooklyn that is filled with amazing art from very talented artists who have come from all over the world to paint. It's rad! Such cool artwork painted on fences, doors, a/c's, garages, manholes, sides of restaurants and businesses."

Floyd Bennett Field Museum - Historic Aviation Sites Brooklyn NYC
A Museum about America's Early Aviation History
Description. Floyd Bennett Field was built in 1928 and was the first airport in NYC. LaGuardia Airport replaced Floyd Bennett Field because of the lengthy ride into the city through Brooklyn. Eventually JFK was established as NYC's third airport [but Floyd Bennett Field has since been closed so there are only two airports in NYC / Newark is considered a third to reach the city], becoming the landing and take off destination for long haul / international flights that required longer runways. After being replaced by LaGuardia, Floyd Bennett Field became a naval air station.

Description. Across from Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island. One of two overlooking the primary gateway into NYC harbor. It was built between 1825 - 1831 and used as a training base during the American Civil War.

Green-Wood Cemetery in Greenwood Heights Brooklyn
Description. Green-Wood Cemetery was established in 1838 and is one of the oldest remaining cemeteries in Brooklyn. In addition to the graveyard there are a couple of buildings at the cemetery where exhibits are occasionally presented. And it was given an arboretum award.
